Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) heat shrink tubing is
a widely used, lower cost alternative to PTFE. FEP has similar
dielectric and frictional properties to PTFE. Although PTFE
has superior chemical resistance to FEP, FEP can be used in
most applications suited for PTFE. The major difference between
the two materials is the continuous use temperature. FEP heat
shrinkable tubing is suitable for continuous use at temperatures
up to 204°C. Another advantage FEP has over PTFE is its
much lower shrink temperature. While PTFE needs a temperature
of over 300°C to shrink it, FEP heat shrink can shrink as
low as 190°C. This can be a significant advantage when used
in conjunction with temperature sensitive components.
Heat shrinkable FEP tubing requires 375° F to shrink.
At approximately 350° F FEP will go into the gel state and
begins to shrink at 375° F. FEP heat shrink will only require
a small degree of recovery.
Color: Natural. Other colors quoted on request.
FEP heat shrink conforms to SAE-AMS-DTL-23053/11.
